Link building for effective search engine optimization

When you start getting high-quality, relevant backlinks for your website, there are many factors that can make or break your search engine ranking. This article explains the difference between good and bad backlinks.

A quality backlink pointing to your website should fall into the same category and contain content relevant to your website. The page your link is on must be indexed by Google and rank on Google. The website where your link is located cannot contain more than 30 other outbound links to other websites. Link pages with more than 30 outbound links are less important to search engines. Placing a link on such a website can negatively impact your search engine rankings. Other great techniques for getting backlinks include submitting to directories, publishing articles, blogs and forums.

For directory submissions, select the appropriate directory category and check how many other sites are in the category where your link is posted. If you get to the first or second page of listings, that’s a high-quality backlink. Also check the Google page ranking where your link is located. If a website has a Google Page Rank, this is also a high-quality backlink.
