How can you get started with your own RSS feed?
To get the latest news on topics that interest you, you first need a news reader that will display the RSS feed. There are plenty to choose from, some internet browsers like Firefox (our favorite from Blueprint IT) have an RSS reader, but there are also many standalone pieces of software that are free and will let you get the latest news. We will use Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 as examples because they are easy to use.
Once you’ve selected your Reader, you’re ready to capture data. Choose the site with the news you like and sign up if they have news feeds (it’s free). You can subscribe to any RSS feed by clicking the RSS feed button. This will ensure that you receive all the news from that publication. Also, some sites may not give you an RSS feed button, but they will give you a link. Do this and type this link into your news reader and reach the publication.
The RSS feed brings you a page full of news from the website of your choice. If you have the option to subscribe to the RSS feed, this will act as a bookmark, allowing you to visit the page at any time.
If you choose to use a dedicated RSS reader, you will automatically download the latest news through the software every time you open it.
RSS feeds offer many benefits to business owners, consumers, and Internet users in general. It’s a quick and easy way to share or view information from your favorite sources with little effort.
